Hello, I am new to this type of thing so please bear with me! I haven´t yet purchased a motorhome, but my dream is to have one sometime in the future. I watch the tv programmes, which are very informative. My main concern is the security of the motor. Are there alarms on door and windows? I cannot find any reference to these items on the manufactures websites. Relatives of mine had their motorhome broken into very easily while away on a day trip. It was an older one though, so I am hoping the newer models are better equiped. Anyone have information please? I can write to the manufacturer, but I though I would see if anyone has had any experiences first hand. (I do not switch on my laptop everyday, so my responses may be erratic). Cheers

Hello Sue and welcome to the Forum If you are not happy with the standard of security on any Motorhome you buy, there are plenty of 'After Market' devises you can buy. Our bus came fitted with a Fiamma Security devise fitted to the Habitation door Like ThisI have also fitted Heosafe locks to our cab doors, these are expensive but good Like TheseI have also seen These they look interesting but they seem a little expensive for what they are. There are also After Market Alarms that can be fitted, but you will never keep a determined thief out I'm afraid. Trooper

When we are traveling off peist so to speak we use a length of chain and a couple of padlocks for the cab doors, flamma for the jab door and main locker and 12v household or alarm sensors inside van. All cheep off of eBay and never had an issue.

We've fitted a Growler Strikeback defender system from Vanbitz. This is due to the proliferation of motorhome robbing scum that plague the neighbourhood from time to time. The internal alarm is so loud, and at just the right frequency, that it makes me sick to be near it when it goes off. it has a very visible set of flashing blue lights to alert any tea leaf that the van is alarmed. We've also got one of those bars that go from door to door to stop them opening and a Fiamma Security46 door handle. The last covers up the door handle of the habitation door, but it's main use is to provide a steady when climbing in and out of the motorhome. Ultimately, a really determined thief could rip off a roof vent, but then all they'd find are a few food tins and items of clothing when the van's on the drive.
