just had two week vacation in Normandy, one of the best vacations ever, and never having taken our smashing new dog abroad we decided to take her along. Must say Brittany ferries were really friendly with no hassle at all. When we returned we had to have our dog wormed and dog passport stamped etc., so took her along to a vet in Cherbourg who was efficient at stabbing the dog with the vaccine, causing the dog to squeal and wet herself, she was obviously I pain. The cost of this was 52 euros. We were not happy and were in two minds in returning to France if this is the procedure. We were staying at the Cormorant camp site near St Mere Eglise and the manager was upset to hear about our experience, and suggested the vet in St Mere Eglise, which we did, and although the surgery was closing the vet opened up for us and explained that his procedure was to offer a working tablet first and if the dog digested it fine, if not then an injection would be the next option. The cost would be approx 30 euros. His attitude and time taken to explain this gave us the confidence that we would return. The vets surgery is brand new opposite the Super U supermarket where all the motorhomes park for the night! As a bonus the gas station is opposite with waste dump, Motorhome wash and a brand new stand alone self service laundry. So no need to move! If anyone wants the details of the vets just email.

Thanks for the Information Andy, why not Post the Vets details on here. We have been to France for 9 years running now ( just got back from our last trip this Saturday 29 June). We used to take 2 dogs, but lost our old Terrier cross last November aged 18, so it was just the Lurcher Mikey this year. We used vets in Alencon (used the same practice 7 times now) we were charged €7 (it's normally €25 consultation fee + cost of tablets, so she made a mistake) for the Tablet (never had either of the dogs injected) we always take a small piece of ham and wrap the tablet in that. This is the Vet in Alencon, I Emailed them a few days before we wanted the appointment and had a reply within a couple of hours. Trooper
