I had the most irritating conversation with Sky TV's customer service last night.
When we bought the motorhome, it had a PACE sky digibox.
As we are Sky customers, we put our Sky card in this box, but as it's locked to the digibox, it wouldn't work.
We phoned Sky and the helpful chap on the other end said he'd authorise the card for the box next time we wanted it.
In the meantime, the satdish failed, and as part of the fault finding, I put our home skybox in the campervan. With the new satdish, our home digibox and skycard, I could receive everything.
So, last night I wanted the home skycard authorising with the Motorhome digibox:
Excuse No 1: "We're not really meant to do it, it's for use in your home."
This is my home, it's a motorhome.
Excuse No 2: "Computer doesn't recognise your box's serial number, you'll have to re-install the software"
Ok, I'll do that then.
Excuse No 3: "Your aerial wasn't provided by Sky, so you can't receive Sky signals."
Yes, I can, I've already done it.
Excuse No 4: "But that was when you were on your property, We only send the signals to your property."
I began to get somewhat frustrated.
I pointed out that her knowledge of radio propagation was somewhat awry and unless I had been having the most elaborate fantasy her statements were factually inaccurate (I used exactly those words). I was then accused of being abusive and was asked if I wanted to speak to a supervisor.
Realising that I was going to get precisely nowhere, I hung up and made a mental note to switch to Virgin Media.
